A small group shaping bowls at a pottery workshop

Wheel One

Price
$340
Length
6 weeks
Size
10 wheels, 10 people

Tue or Thu · 6:30–9:00 pm

Your first six weeks on the wheel — from wedging a lump to trimming a bowl you'd actually give someone. Clay, tools, glazes, and both firings included.

  1. 1

    Wedge & center

The week of mud. Everything else depends on this.

  2. 2

    Cylinders

Pull your first walls. They will be thick. That's fine.

  3. 3

    Bowls

Open the form up. This is where it starts feeling like magic.

  4. 4

    Trim & handles

Flip it, trim a foot, pull a handle that fits your hand.

  5. 5

    Last throws

One more session at the wheel to chase whatever clicked.

  6. 6

    Glaze day

Dip, pour, wax. Fired work is ready about two weeks later.

Good to know

  • Missed a class? Make it up during any open studio hours that week.
  • Wear clothes that can get muddy. Aprons help; they don't win.
  • Short nails throw better — the clay is blunt about this.
  • Fired work is ready about two weeks after glaze day. We hold pieces for a month.
